Sunsets

One of the perks of staying on top a hill is great sunsets. Since I started my new job last August, I have been able to get home while there is still light out ^_^ Here are some snaps I took from my drive way. Ah.... life is good.

Afternoon out in Sg Buloh

The weather in KL has been pretty unpredictable lately, with most days ending in evening showers. However, this morning's weather was bright and sunny without a rain cloud in sight. So we decided to make a trip to the gardening centers in Sg. Buloh to pick up some new plants for our garden.

First stop, lunch! We decided have bak kut teh at Chong Shan restaurant. The food there was excellent! Especially their stir fry kampung chicken in rice wine, yummy ^-^

Next stop, flowers! After looking through a few nurseries and countless mossie bites later we settled on a few hanging plants, a couple of Eugenia trees, a kaffire lime tree, and a red bonsai tree. Let's hope they will survive my brown thumbs.

Qing Shui Temple in Genting Highlands

Two weeks ago, after voting back in Pahang we drove up to Genting Highlands on our way back to KL. The drive up there was more strenuous than I thought, so we made a sight seeing stop at the Qing Shui temple.

We parked at the lowest level of the temple and took the elevator up to the different temples level 7 and level 12. I was very impressed with the way the building was constructed on the hill side connecting the different temples with a single building. This was the view at the temple at level 7.

This the view from level 13, the main attraction area. There are a very interesting depiction of the 18 different level of hell in Chinese folklore and a collection of Taoist deities.

If you are driving up to Genting Highlands, I'd definitely recommend stopping by at the temple for a short break and "pai pai" for some good luck at Uncle Lim's tables ^-^

Dad's garden

After two years in the "new" house, our garden is finally getting into shape. Dad has been spending a lot of time in it. Watering, weeding and pruning the grass. We also collected a lot of plants from the gardening centers, friends and sometimes from the wild. We got the roses last Dec and it's doing very well, much to my surprise. There are several other type of flowers that I have yet to identify that are "growing like weeds" in the garden.
